Bangladesh import guide
Importing a car from the UK to Bangladesh.
The age limit, the costs to plan for, and how we help.
The age limit
Bangladesh allows the import of used (reconditioned) vehicles that are no more than five years old at the time of shipment. A draft import policy for 2025–2028 has proposed allowing older vehicles under conditions, but as of early 2026 it had not been approved — check the current position before you buy.
Vehicles that suit Bangladesh
- Right-hand-drive, as sold in the UK.
- Recent model years, so the car is still within the limit on its shipping date.
- Fitted with seat belts and clear, untinted windscreen and driver’s window glass, as Bangladesh’s rules require.
Duties and taxes
Import duties and supplementary duty in Bangladesh rise steeply with engine size, so the total tax on a large-engined car can be very high. Ask your clearing agent for a duty calculation on the exact model before you commit.
How we help
- We search only for cars that will be within the five-year limit when they ship.
- Independent inspection, history and finance checks before you pay.
- Export documents, shipping and insurance to Chattogram.
Information last checked October 2026. Import rules change often — always confirm with your clearing agent or the customs authority before you buy.
