Pakistan import guide

Importing a car from the UK to Pakistan in 2026.

What changed in January 2026, who can import, which cars qualify, and how we help.

What changed

From 15 January 2026, Pakistan ended the Personal Baggage Scheme for used vehicles. Overseas Pakistanis can still import a vehicle under the Gift Scheme or the Transfer of Residence Scheme.

Which vehicles qualify

  • Cars up to three years old.
  • Other vehicles, such as SUVs and jeeps, up to five years old.
  • Right-hand-drive, as sold in the UK.

Who can import

  • Overseas Pakistanis, including Pakistan Origin Card holders, who have lived abroad for at least three years with at least 850 days outside Pakistan.
  • Under the Gift Scheme, the car can be gifted to a parent, spouse, child or sibling in Pakistan.
  • One vehicle every three years. A vehicle imported under these schemes cannot be transferred to someone else for one year.

Duties and taxes

There is no duty-free route: customs duties and taxes are payable on every imported car. Duty depends heavily on engine size and value, so get an estimate from your clearing agent before you choose a car.

Commercial imports

Since late 2025, licensed dealers have also been allowed to import used vehicles commercially, with an additional duty that is being reduced each year and with safety and quality inspections. This route is for businesses rather than individuals.

How we help

  • We search only for cars that meet the age rule on your shipping date.
  • Independent inspection, history and finance checks before you pay.
  • Export documents, shipping and insurance to Karachi.

Information last checked October 2026. Import rules change often — always confirm with your clearing agent or the customs authority before you buy.
